A tie for second place by Steve Blackburn Jr. at the Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship has propelled him into a narrow lead with one event remaining in the 2020 Cleveland Metroparks Golf Player of the Year points list standings.
With 98 points, Blackburn now leads Colin Burns by four. Burns moved into second place with a T2 finish at the Seneca Stableford last weekend.
Chris Okeson made the big jump from 13th to third place after tying Blackburn for second place at the Cleveland Am, and now stand with 81 points.
Those three are now the only players with a mathematical chance to win this season’s POY title.
The Senior Division has shown no change at the top, mathematically making Allen Freeman the 2020 winner there.
The final event in the 2020 Player of the Year Series will be the Bill Barbour Cup at Sleepy Hollow on Saturday, September 5. This fun two player event will feature a 6-6-6 format of Scramble, Better-Ball and Modified Alternate Shot.
