It was a blustery, gray, bone-chilling-40-degree day. But 19 hardy players were tough enough to tackle the challenging Northeast Ohio Golf Valley of the Eagles 2-Man Better Ball in Elyria on Sunday, Oct 21st.
Three teams finished tied at the top, but VOE and the weather were probably the day’s real winners: an even par 72 was good for a share of victory.
The ages of the players on the three winning teams ran the gamut: super-senior Ron Skirpstas played the white tees paired with senior Paul Woznicki from the blues; youngsters Jimmy Wild and Steve Blackburn Jr. played the black tees; and the senior tandem of Brian Huntley and Tom Laubacher both played the blue tees.
The Series’ “age-appropriate tees” rule seem to be working exactly as it should.
Six skins were won on the day, primarily by teams who didn’t finish in that first place tie. Complete results below.
For a brand new golf course, the greens at Valley of the Eagles were in spectacular condition and the entire property is really coming along. The NEOHgolf.com Tournament Series looks forward to returning in the sunny and warm summer months next season…
