“Everyone won” on Sunday at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course in Canton for the Northeast Ohio Golf Stroke Play #4: it was a perfectly sunny summer afternoon, at a well-conditioned old-style public golf course, under a shotgun start that made for a brisk pace of play.
In reality, 10% of the field did win, as three players from a smaller field of just 30 tied at the top. And more than one-third of all players cashed, so ‘everyone won’ is only slight hyperbole.
Aaron Crewse of North Canton, David Trier of Stow, and Rob Schustrich of Windham each shot a score of 1-under par 69 on the Dales Course at Tammy to share the top spot in Stroke Play #4.
Another four players tied for fourth place, further spreading the wealth. Just a single shot behind the winning threesome were even-par 70 shooters Shaun Kloetzer (pictured right), Ty Kovach, Mark Thomas and Jim Cea.
And a different set of four players won skins on the day: Mike Lenartowicz with an eagle at the par-5 7th, Dan Terry with a birdie at the crazy-tough 10th hole, Jack Garswood with a birdie at 11, and Joe Nemeth with a birdie at 15.
