The top 24 players in the Akron District Golf Association’s regular and senior divisions must commit by this Saturday, September 24th at 6 p.m. to play in the Golfer of the Year Tournament, a 54-hole stroke play event at all three Firestone Country Club courses from September 30th – October 2nd.

The team of David Trier, Anthony Yacovazzi and Ross Beal — the self-titled ‘Kitten and the Kids’ — put a few bogeys onto their team scorecard but also ripped off a huge string of birdies and a mile’s worth of Yacovazzi putts to capture the 2011 Akron District Golf Association’s 3-Man Shamble at Chippewa Golf Course in Doylestown Saturday.

Pete Skirpstas of Medina and Jim Krivanek of Mayfield Village posted a solid score of 7-under par 65 at a soggy Barberton Brookside Golf Club on Saturday to win the Akron District Golf Association’s Lazor 2-Man Better Ball tournament by a single shot over two teams.

Kurt Peterson of Massillon grabbed a win Sunday at Rosemont in the 36-hole ADGA / SCAGA Stroke Play Tournament, while Joe Hedrick of Barberton cruised to a 5-shot victory in the Senior Division.
Northern Ohio PGA Offers Exemptions into 2012 Ohio Opens for 2011 ADGA Golfers of the Year
The Northern Ohio Section of the PGA of America confirmed to the Akron District Golf Association on Friday that the ADGA’s 2011 Golfer of the Year winners in both the main and senior divisions will be awarded a fully-paid exemption into the 2012 MinuteMenJobs.com Ohio Open events for their respective divisions.

Jason Chadima holed a 6-iron from 175 yards for eagle on a par-5 while Mark Thomas made a bundle of birdies.
Jim Cea and Ron Bell showed that age means little and that getting it in the hole means everything, winning the Senior Division with the same final score as the main division.
