Amateur Brad Steven of Concord has earned a spot in the 44th U.S. Senior Open Championship, to be held at Newport Country Club in Newport, Rhode Island on June 27 – 30.
Playing in the Columbus qualifier today at Worthington Hills Country Club, Steven shot a 3-under par 68 to earn the second of two spots available from the qualifier. Steven’s birdie at the last allowed him to avoid a playoff with five players who shot 69. FULL RESULTS >
Professional Dan Gage of Powell, OH earned the medalist honors at Worthington Hills with a 6-under par 65.
Steven is the only player to have won the Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship four times. Last year, Steven won the Senior Division of the Northeast Ohio Amateur Championship and was the low Senior Amateur in the Ohio Senior Open.
