After three team events it’s not surprising that the top six spots for the 2014 Cleveland Metroparks Golf Player of the Year are all team partners.
Tied for first place with 40 points are Scott Saari and Paul LaGrotteria who teamed together to earn points in the each of the Spring events and won last weekend’s event at Big Met.
Tied for third is the father and son team of Ray and Lou Durban with 32 points.
The brother/brother team of Paul and John Prince are tied for fifth with 26 points.
The tournament schedule now switches through the summer to individual stroke play events. These events will award more points to the top ten finishers than the team events: 50 points for the Cleveland Am; 45 points for the Course Championships; 40 points for the other individual stroke play events.
The top 10 points earners will be receive a bonus pool payout. The pool payout will be based on the total participation of all of the above events. The estimated first place payout is $450, including a trophy and an exemption into the following year’s Greater Cleveland Amateur. Payouts will be in the form of Cleveland Metropark gift cards.
See the Northeast Ohio Golf Tournament Calendar for a list of all the Cleveland Metroparks Golf points events.
