A second place finish at the Big Met course championship, combined with a win at the Seneca stroke play event, has vaulted Brian Smith to a hefty lead in the points race for Cleveland Metroparks Player of the Year.
With 95 points, Smith is well ahead of Jonathan Reimer who is in second place with 69 points. Reimer won the Shawnee Hills course championship last weekend and is four points ahead of Jack Garswood who finished third at Big Met.
David Sotka, who has been the Player of the Year the previous two seasons, recorded back to back top ten finishes at the Manakiki and Sleepy Hollow course championships to move into 11th place.
There are still a lot of points remaining to be earned this season and with 50 points going to the Greater Cleveland Amateur champ many players still have a chance.
A reminder that the top ten point winners at season’s end will split a bonus pool of Cleveland Metroparks gift cards that are not confined to just shop merchandise. The current projection for the total pool is now around $1,700.
