On a day where the forecast looked ominous, the rain held off and a good sized field took on Big Met Golf Course in the Cleveland Metroparks Golf Spring Tour 2-Player Scramble & Better Ball.
By scorecard playoff, newly reinstated am Ryan Gutowski and partner Michael Clark were able to hold off the winners of last week’s CMG event at Manikiki, Allen Freeman and Ty Kovach.
Freeman and Kovach shot a strong 7-under par 29 in the front nine Scramble format to jump out in front. But Gutowski and Clark fired a 32 in the Better Ball format on the back nine that included a crucial birdie at the final hole that made all the difference. Both teams finished at 8-under par 64. A scorecard playoff of ‘low back nine’ gave Gutowski and Clark the victory.
