Kyle Buzaki, Stow native and Walsh University golf alumni, leads after day one of the 94th Northeast Ohio Amateur Championship. Kyle was able to post one of two bogey-free rounds on the day. There was something in the air in Kyle’s group, with the threesome of Buzaki, Mason Deal and Zander Gibson posting a combined score of 11-under par on the day.
Canton native Vaughn Snyder sat atop the Championship and Mid-Amateur divisions for most of the day. Vaughn posted a bogey-free front-nine that included one birdie and one eagle. The reigning NOGA Tournament of Champions winner sits atop the Mid-Amateur Division after only one bogey on Saturday.
2022 NEOAm Senior champ Kurt Peterson was the only Senior Division player to post a score under par during the first round at Windmill Lakes. The Bolivar, Ohio, resident was able to take a one-stroke lead into day two despite a double bogey on number 17. The four birdies on the day put Kurt in a great position heading into the final two days.
Klaira Paramore, a member of the 2024 Ashland University Women’s Golf Team, posted an opening round 80 on Saturday. Klaira owns a seven stroke lead heading into Sunday.
Fiona Connor and Gail Hackett are tied for the lead in the Senior Division of the NEOWA. The two matched each other on the last three holes to each post 83, giving them a six stroke lead heading into Day 2.
