PREVIEW: 2025 Akron District Golf Association

Akron District Golf Associationby Kyle Jones and Jimmy Wild

The Akron District Golf Association is back for 2025, with a handful of changes based on player recommendations and operation experience after our first year without the guiding wisdom of past ADGA Director Tim Davis.

While the ADGA schedule features many of the same events as last year, we are bringing two events to Fox Den Golf Course in Stow in 2025: a brand new individual Stableford points event on June 28 and the always fun 4-Player Scramble on August 23.

Since the ADGA plays its events on weekends and prefers to start in the morning, we have to cap the number of entries at most events this year. We must now keep our events within a set window of starting and ending times, as golf courses are busy. So be sure to sign up early to guarantee your spot – online entry to each event opens exactly three weeks in advance at 7 a.m.

Just like last year, registrations will be submitted to Golf Genius through the NOGA Live Scoring system linked from this website. Then, payment for that entry will be collected at the golf course on event day at check-in. The per-player entry fee for each event in 2025 will be $130, which covers golf+cart, tournament prizes, skins, and administration.

New this year, the ADGA will add a brand new set of tees to the golf course to enhance competition. Men up to age 54 still play the Neon Orange back tees, Men 55-64 will move up one box to Neon Yellow, and Men 65-74 up another box still to Neon Blue. But new this year, Men age 75+ and all Women will play from a new Neon Purple set upfront.

Also related to tee boxes, the Joe Ungvary Sr. Memorial 2-Player Jumble at Good Park on May 31 will feature variable tees by age/gender for the first time ever, to keep the format of play consistent across all events.

The ADGA has secured several sponsors for 2025. We would like to recognize them now for supporting the association: Crest Roofing (Bobby Spino), Mallette Dental (Dr. Jeff Mallette), and individually, Tom Skidmore and Bill Downing. Players will see these sponsor names on the tee markers and greenside signs at each event. One spot remains if any other company or individual would like to sponsor the ADGA in 2025; please get in touch (Kyle Jones, 614-633-9456).

The Akron District Golf Association looks forward to hosting another great year of scratch golf tournaments, building on its history from its launch in 1934. So sign up early and often!
