2021 will be a “steady as she goes” year, with the same line up of event as in 2020 — but a new way to earn a coveted spot in the Cleveland Am.
The CMG tournament season kicks off on Saturday, May 8th. The first event in the race for Cleveland Metroparks Golf Player of the Year will be an individual stroke play tournament at Shawnee Hills.
The following Saturday will feature a Two-Player Scramble at Manakiki, then the Am/Senior Better Ball at Sleepy Hollow on June 26.
Our “Championship Season” kicks off with the 36-hole Senior Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship at Big Met on June 28 and 29.
Following in July with be our four Course Championships at Manakiki, Sleepy, Seneca and Shawnee, which also serve as qualifiers for the Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship. The GCAC will be held at Manakiki on August 14 and 15, and once again will be a World Amateur Golf Ranking event.
New for 2021, exemptions will be awarded to the top 10 all-time point earners on the CMG Player of the Year list for the GCAC finals. This is another way to reward players who have both played well and been loyal to our tournament series over the years. Details to follow.
The season will finish out with a Stableford at Seneca then the long-running two-player Barbour Cup at Sleepy Hollow.
One other event that we’d like to bring special attention to is the Greater Cleveland Junior Amateur Championship at Seneca Golf Course in Broadview Heights on Saturday, May 8th. It’s our intent to build this event into one of the finest junior championships in the area. If you are the parent, relative or friend of a competitive junior golfer under the age of 19, please encourage them to sign up!

As of this writing, our tournaments’ COVID rules and policies are the same as last year. Requirements may change as we go through the year, so participants will be updated ahead of each event.
We look forward to seeing big fields and great competition at all of the 2021 Cleveland Metroparks Golf events!
