Located within the Mill Creek MetroParks in Boardman, Mill Creek Golf Course features two 18-hole championship courses that opened to the public in 1928. Both courses are designed by Donald Ross to a par of 70, with four sets of tees stretching from 5095 yards to 6511 yards.
The South Course plays over a flat terrain with tree-lined fairways. Natural areas and streams come into play on five holes. The South Course has been selected by Golfweek as one of America’s 30 Best Municipal Courses.
The North Course weaves through tall trees and includes a variety of natural hazards.
There are over 100 bunkers to avoid at Mill Creek Golf Course. Golf course architect Donald Ross once said, “There is no such thing as a misplaced bunker. Regardless of where a bunker may be, it is the business of the player to avoid it.”
The Fieldhouse, built in 1929, houses the pro shop and a grille room with a wide variety of tasty food and beverages.
Mill Creek Golf Course continues to challenge the skills of golfers at all levels 90 years later, and the facility will continue to get better. In 2019, the Mahoning Valley Hospital Foundation Golf Endowment was started to make future capital improvements and better the maintenance of the facility in the years ahead. The endowment received $300,000 from the Mahoning Valley Hospital Foundation and $7,500 from the Donald Ross Society.
