Seven birdies were recorded at Powderhorn GC in Madison on Thursday — and all seven held up as skins!
Mike Angie had the most fun, coming out of the gate and sinking a 40-foot downhill putt on the long par-4 10th hole. Mike also birdied the par-5 16th hole and took home the pin shot on #14. Skins were worth $36.14 and the pin shots were worth $38.50, so Angie earned $110.78.
Geoff Nicely birdied the 12th hole, Mark Foss birdied 13, and Paul Kish birdied 15. Tom Evans stuck it close on the par-3 17th hole and made the putt for birdie to capture both the pin shot and skin on that hole. And finally, John Niedzialek made a skin on the 18th hole with a birdie.
Steve Blackburn Jr. took the week off but still holds onto the lead of the Greater Cleveland Skin Game in quest of the “Thompson Cup.”
Only six more weeks to play culminating in the “Double Down” event at Pleasant Hills on October 23, and the “Thompson Cup” trophy presentation.
The Skins Game moves to Fowlers Mill next Thursday, September 18 starting at 5:00pm sharp due to daylight concerns. Green Fees will be $22.00 riding, which includes a beverage. Any players that want to play a “warm up 9 hole round” before the scheduled skins game must call the course first to make such arrangements.
