It took perennial favorite Mark Foss of Mayfield Heights 15 weeks to finally get a skin in the 2009 Greater Cleveland Skins game — and he broke through in a big way with an eagle on a par four.
Foss eagled the par-4 18th hole at Powderhorn Golf Course Thursday with a driver and 12-foot putt, taking home a $160 skin. Foss also bagged the pin shot on the 14th hole for another $49.
Sam Corabi of Painesville is quietly working his way up the season-long leaderboard after cashing again with the night’s second skin, nailing a 25-foot birdie putt at the par-3 17th hole good for $160.
Tom Herrmann made his way onto the leaderboard with the other pin shot on the 17th hole.
Mike Angie continues to sit atop the Greater Cleveland Skins Game Leaderboard in quest of his first Thompson Cup. But Steve Blackburn Jr. continued his stellar play after winning the Metroparks Course Championship at Manikiki over the weekend, making five birdies at the skins game at Powderhorn. Unfortunately, (or fortunately for Angie, depending upon your perspective) Blackburn came up empty as all five birdies were tied.
Next week, the Greater Cleveland Skins Game travels to Chardon Lakes Golf Club, with play starting at 5 p.m.
