This Saturday and Sunday, Oct 7th – 8th, North Canton residents Aaron Crewse and Dr. Jeff Mallette will attempt to qualify for the match play portion of the 2017 USGA Mid-Amateur Championship with 36-holes of stroke play in Atlanta.
Both players start on Saturday at Atlanta National Golf Club off the 10th tee, and finish Sunday at the primary tournament course, Capital City Club Crabapple.
Crewse starts at 12:30 pm, while Mallette goes at 1:25 pm.

Another local competing is Tony Hejna, 49, of Cleveland, Ohio. Henja, who qualified at Virginia CC in Long Beach, CA, was chosen in the third round of the 1986 National Hockey League Draft by the St. Louis Blues. Hejna, who was a two-time captain and scored 123 career points as a collegian at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), won the Turner Cup in his lone season with the IHL’s Peoria Rivermen but then retired due to multiple back surgeries. Hejna, who works in banking, is playing in his sixth USGA championship and fourth U.S. Mid-Amateur.
