Niko Anagnost birdies second playoff hole to win at Sleepy Hollow
The steamy temperatures, the tough course setup, and the scores of the top two finishers were all consistent this weekend at the 2024 Sleepy Hollow Hollow Course Championship.
Niko Anagnost and David Swab both finished Day 1 with 1-over par 72, then matched up again on Sunday at 3-over par 74. On Sunday, Anagnost turned the front nine at 3-over par 38 while Swab turned the front nine at even par 35. They flipped their scores on the back nine, with Niko finishing at even par and David posting 3-over par 39 to tie the weekend at 146.
Off to the par-5 first hole they went for a playoff to determine a champion. Both players made birdie there.
Then, on the par-3 second hole, stretched out to 230 yards with a deep back-left pin, Anagnost hit his tee shot to 20 feet while Swab missed short left. After Swab chipped to about 15 feet, Anagnost made the birdie putt to clinch the title.
A score of 158 or better earned a spot in the Cleveland Amateur Championship for nine players, which will be played over 54 holes at Sleepy Hollow on August 9 – 11.
Two more Course Championships + Cleveland Am Qualifiers remain: next weekend, at Seneca GC in Broadview Heights, and the following weekend, at Shawnee Hills.
