Brian Smith cards a Sunday 68 to win by one over Lucas Liberatore; a score of 151 earns a spot in the Cleveland Am
After a closely contested first day, expectations were high for day two of the 2024 Big Met Course Championship, and Sunday’s play did not disappoint.
Amherst’s Brian Smith captured his third Big Met title with an impressive second-round 68 to finish at 138 for the two-day event. Just last week at Big Met, Smith captured his first Senior Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship.
Lucas Liberatore also made a strong run with a second-day 68 to finish in second place at 139, one shot back.
AJ Borisa (141), Nathaneal Matthews (144), Timothy Smith (145) and 2023 Champion Andrew Malkus (145) rounded out the top-5 finishers.
A score of 151 was required to advance from Big Met to the Cleveland Amateur Championship, with 13 players moving on alongside five previously exempt players.
