Earning points in 6 of the 12 events this season, Andrew Malkus is the 2023 Cleveland Metroparks Player of the Year. Malkus, who totaled 173 points, won the Big Met Course Championship and earned second place finishes in the 2023 Match Play at Shawnee Hills, the Seneca Course Championship, and the Barbour Cup at Sleepy Hollow.
Ohio Northern Alum Colin Burns was the POY runner-up with 121 points, with one win on the year at the Shawnee Hills Course Championship. Burns also recorded a second place finish at the Big Met Course Championship, losing in a playoff to Malkus.
In the Senior Division, Allen Freeman was the 2023 Senior Player of the Year with a total of 66 points. Freeman placed in four events including a tie for the runner-up in the 2023 Senior Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship at Big Met. Brian Smith finished in second place with 47 points in the Senior Division.
The top ten players in the Championship Division and the top three players in the Senior Division each earn a part of the bonus player pool from the 2023 CMG Player of the Year Series. Thanks to all the participants in the 2023 Player Series tournaments!
