Jason Jendre used his course knowledge to hold on to a three shot victory over Brian Juguilon on Sunday in the 2019 Seneca Course Championship.
Jason and Brian were tied for the lead at 73 after Saturday’s first round. Jason opened Sunday with a nice birdie, then proceeded to par seven of the next eight holes. Brian matched that opening birdie and made the turn only one stroke behind Jason.
The lengthy Furnace Run back nine tested the participants’ accuracy off the tee with firm and fast fairways. Jason was able to play the most steady back nine to capture the championship, with five competitors finishing within 9 strokes over the 36 hole tournament.
With three qualifying spots up for grabs into the Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship and three exempt players in the field, there was some fun scoreboard watching to conclude the weekend. Congrats to Brian Juguilon, Kyle Kovacs, and Andrew Zgrabik for earning qualifying spots to join exempt participants Jason Jendre, Andrew Jendre, and Jack Garswood in the Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship next month at Manakiki.
