The Sleepy Hollow Course Championship field battled through heat and an hour-and-a-half rain delay in Sunday’s final round, but that didn’t seem to affect Peyton White.
White shot a 1-under par 70 to go along with his first round 71 to win by five shots. A resident of North Carolina and who plays for Ohio University, White eagled the par-5 14th to keep first round leader Jacob Appleby at bay.
Appleby, who plays for the University of Akron, shot a second round 77 to finish in second with 146.
The qualifying score to make it into the Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship was 160. That event will be played at Sleepy Hollow August 12 – 14th.
