Brian Smith of Amherst birdied two of his last three holes to hold off Jack Garswood, who was attempting to repeat his come-from-behind victory like last year’s Big Met Course Championship.
Smith led the event after an opening round 6-under par 66, and closed with a final round 2-under par 70. He lead wire to wire, finishing at 8-under par 136 and a two shot victory. Smith’s two rounds included a jaw-dropping 15 birdies.
Garswood fired a second round 66, good enough to grab solo second place at 6-under par 138.
Jackson Farling and John Baggott finished tied in third place with 2-under par 142.
All players at a score of 151 and better advance to the 2016 Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship at Sleepy Hollow on August 12th, 13th, and 14th.
