It’s hard to stop a team that holes out a fairway wood.
Going 3-under par with one swing is tough to beat.
In one magic stroke, Brian Polick dunked his second shot on the long par-5 10th hole at Barberton Brookside Country Club in the 2016 Akron District Golf Association 4-Man Scramble on Saturday.
Teaming up with Howard Clendenin, Steve Blackburn Jr. and Nick Anagnost, the foursome finished at 16-under par 56 to nab a share of the victory and a skin-winner on the albatross.
The team of Charlie Schrader, Russ Swartz, Eddie Pearce and Tom DiFrancesco shared in that victory, also reaching 16-under par 56, albeit in a more conventional birdie-making route.
In the Senior Division, one team took the victory all by themselves with some spectacularly steady golf.
The foursome of Tom Seever, Jim Grasso, Sam Spino and Doug Rockich made a birdie on every hole at Barberton Brookside except for the nearly impossible par-3 17th to finish at 17-under par 55. That steady-as-she-goes score was good for a one shot victory over two teams.
(BTW, a birdie on the 197-yard par-3 17th was made by one team in each division, netting each a skin.)
