FINAL RESULTS: 2016 ADGA Lazor 2-Man Better Ball

Mike Armour 2016 ADGA Lazor
Mike Armour holes his putt for birdie on the 18th green for the team’s two-shot victory in the ADGA Lazor.

Akron District Golf AssociationOne player had his career best round.

The other player gave his partner plenty of free runs, plus covered two bogeys in the process.

That’s how a team shoots 9-under par 63 at Rawiga Country Club in Seville to win the 2016 Akron District Golf Association’s Lazor 2-Man Better Ball.

Tyler McHugh ADGA LazorKent State player Tyler McHugh (right) shot his best-ever score of 65, while partner Mike Armour of Stow made plenty of pars, a couple birdies of his own, and covered his partner’s miscues on two occasions.

The Fox Den Wednesday League favorites won by two shots over Dan Marr of Akron and a surprised Aaron Crewse of North Canton (who thought their team’s 65 was plenty low enough to win).

Another two shots behind that were Mike Simpson and Jim Krivanek.

Yes the sporty, challenging golf course was in great condition, but it was a windy day with some tough hole locations; the 63 by McHugh and Armour was a fantastic score.

Also of note, Barberton’s Shayne Bishop continued his 2016 streak of knocking balls into the hole from long range: this time he made an ace at the 153-yard par-3 eighth hole at Rawiga.

In the Lazor’s Senior Division, the scoring didn’t quite have the same torrid pace.

Three teams posted a 3-under par total score of 69 to tie for first place: Tom Skidmore and Bill Downing; Mark Borlin and Mark Foss; and brothers Jeff and Bruce Dean.

Merchandise certificates as listed below will be available at Golfsmith in Fairlawn later this week.

The next event on the 2016 ADGA schedule is the Bud Light 3-Man Shamble at Brookledge Golf Course in Cuyahoga Falls on Saturday, July 23rd…
