Rob Schustrich Makes it Four in a Row!
Rob Schustrich of Windham won the 2015 Greater Cleveland Shootout at Madison Country Club on Monday, firing a 2-under par 69 to edge out Steve Backburn Jr. and Jack Garswood by a single stroke.
Schustrich was playing in the same group with Blackburn Jr. of Willowick and defending champion Dave Sotka of Chardon.
Blackburn Jr. got off to a tough start by snap hooking his first two tee shots into the weeds on the left side of the first hole making a triple bogey 7. He battled back from there to shoot 70 on the day.
Jack Garswood of Cleveland also played well shooting a one under par 70 for the day.
Schustrich got his score to four under par but closed with a double bogey 6 on the finishing hole, still good enough for the victory.
This was Schustrich’s fourth consecutive weekend of winning a championship. Schustrich took home $580 for his efforts. It was also Schustrich’s second victory in the Greater Cleveland Shootout Championship.
Bill Speirs of Munson Twp. and Dave Sotka of Chardon finished tied for 4th place with 72’s. Steve Blackburn Sr. of Lyndhurst finished in 6th place with a 73.
The big skin winners on the night were Dave Sotka with a birdie on the difficult par-4 2nd hole and Joey DiDonato with a surprising birdie holding up on the par-five 6th hole. Skins were worth $360 each.
