The father and son team of Steve Blackburn Sr. and Steve Blackburn Jr. returned to the winner’s circle, capturing the 2014 Cleveland Metroparks Father/Son Championship at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Brecksville on Sunday.
The Blackburns dominated this event for many years, but hadn’t won since 2007.
Their 6-under par 65 was good for a two-shot victory over Ron and Pete Skirpstas and Ray and Lou Durban.
The Blackburn’s were one-under par for the better ball format on the front nine, but then kicked it into high gear with a scramble back nine score of 5-under par 30.
Play was delayed several times due to heavy downpours that forced some groups to call it a day, but the course conditions held up very well even with the rain.
