Chippewa ChampionshipTy Kovach of Medina played a spectacular round of golf in the most difficult of setups and conditions on Sunday to win the 2010 Chippewa Championship in convincing fashion.

Kovach posted a sterling even par 71 in windy conditions (and with those hole locations!) to win by three shots over perennial champion David Oates of Canton.

Chippewa ChampionshipKenny Koprivec grabbed the first round lead of the Chippewa Championship today, posting a smooth 2-over par score of 73 to lead by one shot over defending champion Dave Oates of Canton.

Fred Miller and Ty Kovach sit tied for third place with a score of 75, while Jim Cea finished alone in fifth place at 76 after a roller-coaster round of 32-44.

FINAL RESULTS: 2010 Summit County Senior Amateur Golf Championship

Rick Merrow of Akron followed up a strong showing in this year’s “junior” Summit County Amateur with two steady rounds and a victory in the 2010 Summit County Senior Amateur Golf Championship, played Friday at Barberton Brookside Gountry Club and Saturday at Good Park Golf Course. Merrow won by two shots over Dave Pulk of Hudson, with Ron Bell and Fred Miller tied for third another two shots behind that.

Summit County Amateur Golf Championship Dave Oates posted a smooth 2-under par 69 to grab the overnight lead after the first round of the 2010 Summit County Amateur Golf Championship at Good Park Golf Course on Saturday.

Oates leads by a single shot over six players, and a whopping 33 players are within four shots of the lead. Look for a shoot-out in tomorrow’s final round!
