RESULTS: 2011 Yankee Run Spring 5-M Scramble
A field of 36 teams vied for a $10,000 purse with an added $1,800 in the skin game at the Yankee Run 5-M Scramble on Sunday. The team of Terry Danko shot a tournament record-setting 20-under par: they amassed 5 eagles, 10 birdies, and only 3 pars for their winning score of 50 (yes, 50!), all in challenging conditions.
Two Teams Tie at at a Toughened Eagle Creek 6-M
In an effort to eliminate a couple of perennial ‘pace of play backups’, the staff at Eagle Creek lengthened three holes for the 6-man scramble so players didn’t wait to drive a par-4 green or hit a par-5 in two.
Not only did those changes work to speed up play, but they also made the golf course more challenging — and the final scores reflected that new difficulty.
