Beal Goes Low to Win Second Straight ADGA Medal Play Championship

ADGADefending champion Ross Beal of Uniontown overpowered Barberton Brookside with a bogey free 8-under par 64 on Sunday, and ran away with a seven-shot victory at the ADGA’s Medal Play Championship.

Beal carded four birdies and two eagles on Sunday for a two-day 36-hole total of 9-under par 135, easily winning the title for the second straight year.

Beal’s first eagle on Sunday came when he drove the dogleg left 325-yard third hole and sank the putt. His second eagle came on the 340-yard 16th hole when Ross sent is approach shot past the pin, spinning the ball back into the hole for a field shot.

Aaron Crewse finish in second place with a fine 2-under par 70 for a two day total of 142. Also of note, Bob Goulish had a hole-in-one for a skin on Saturday at Seven Hills.

Schrader, DeFrancesco, Nehlsen and Tarter Take ADGA Brookledge 4-M Scramble

ADGAThe team of Charlie Schrader, Tom DeFrancesco, Paul Nehlsen and Nathan Tarter bested a field of 22 teams to capture the Akron District Golf Association’s 4-player scramble Saturday at Brookledge.

On a well conditioned golf course with some cool, windy and sporadically rainy weather, the Scrader team simply made the fewest mistakes in pulling out a one-shot win over two teams.

Taking full advantage of a 350-yard tee shot by Joe Nemeth on the par-4 13th hole, the team of Tim Davis, Joe Nemeth, Dan Marr and Curt Willgues grabbed the only skin on the day, worth $880.

Next up on the ADGA schedule is the 54-hole individual stroke play event on three consecutive days beginning May 30th at a different course each round; details here.

Mike Armour and Dave Trier Post Big Win at ADGA 2-Man Better Ball

ADGAThe team of Mike Armour and Dave Trier shot a sizzling round of 8-under par 63 to win the ADGA’s 2-player better ball event at Turkeyfoot Golf Links in Akron on Saturday.

An eagle at the par-5 16th and six birdies (including a great birdie at the long par-3 15th) against a lone bogey at the par-3 13th gave the Armour/Trier pair a two shot victory over the team of Ryan Maxwell and Ross Beal.

In fact, the birdie at 15 and eagle at 16 by Trier and Armour were two of the three skins won, giving them a pretty thorough haul for the day.

The next ADGA event will be a 4-man scramble at Brookledge GC in Stow on Saturday, May 16th. To register, visit the ADGA website or call the ADGA voicemail at (440) 848-8364 and leave a message.
