Can a shamble ace that counts as 4-under par on a single hole be overshadowed? Yes, yes it can.
Ty Kovach partnered with Allen Freeman in Week 16 and tossed in a perfect ace at the par-3 sixth hole. Kovach’s punched 9-iron never left the flag, landed six feet in front of the cup and rolled in with perfection. That shamble deuce led to a 6-under par total for the session.
But Vaughn + Dave Snyder crushed that total score. Continuing his incredible season, Vaughn shot 6-under par on his own ball across the front side of Chippewa, while Dave tossed in a 3-under par of his own to reach a scorching 9-under par total.
(It’s not the Scratch League shamble record, however, as Chris Okeson + Rob Schustrich went a mind-bending 11-under par 59 with an ace at the sixth hole in 2020.)
Freeman earned at T2 and skin while Jimmy Wild nabbed a skin with Ryan Stefanski on the 8th hole. Freeman jumps into second position on the leaderboard ahead of Wild by $20, further tightening the top against leader Mike Simpson. Just a $110 difference with two weeks to go…
