Howard Clendenin of Seville posted a bogey-free 5-under par 67 at the challenging Seven Hills Golf Club in Hartville on Saturday to take the lead after the first round of the 2016 Akron District Golf Association Stroke Play Tournament.
Clendenin leads by a whopping four shots over Mike Simpson, Jim Krivanec and Jake McBride, each of whom shot a solid score of 1-under par 71.
In the Senior Division, Tom Seever leads after posting a 74 in the first round. Seever is ahead of Larry Lahnan by two shots heading into tomorrow’s final round.
Round two of the 36-hole event will be played at Chippewa Golf Club in Doylestown tomorrow. Round 1 scores and Round 2 starting times are as follow:
