Steve Blackburn Jr. is making the statement that he wants his hands on the Thompson Cup one more time.
The defending Greater Cleveland Skins Game Champion grabbed the entire skins pot worth $437.00 by making eagle-3 on the 490-yard 14th hole at Erie Shores on Thursday.
Nineteen players made the trip out east, but only Blackburn Jr. brought the loot back west to his hometown in Willowick.
Blackburn Jr. now pads his total on the top of the 2014 Leaderboard to more than double that of the second position!
Pin shot winners on the night were Bill Spear on the 209-yard 12th hole and Tom Evans found his way to the Leaderboard with the pin shot on the 185-yard 16th hole. Fortunately for Blackburn Jr., nobody made their putts for birdie on either par three. The pin shots paid $66.50 each.
Players are reminded that the top five players on the Skins Leaderboard will gain exemptions into the finals of this year’s Greater Cleveland Amateur, to be held this August at Manikiki. Two more weeks are left to decide the top 5 players!
Next Thursday at 5pm, the Greater Cleveland Skins Game travels to Tanglewood National Golf Club, which is giving our players a $19 rate that includes the cart. All amateur players are welcome to participate.
