Cleveland Skins 2014 Opening Day

Greater Cleveland Skins GameThe Greater Cleveland Skins Game opened up its 24th season at Fowlers Mill Golf Club on Thursday on a cool but sunny day.

“This was actually one of the nicest days we have had for a season opener,” stated Skins Game Director John Niedzialek.

17 players competed in the season’s first event.

Mark Borlin stole the show by making three birdies on the Lake Nine at Fowlers Mill. Borlin’s birdies on the par-four 2nd hole and the difficult dogleg par-four 6th hole held up for skins on the night. Borlin knocked in a 25-foot putt on the 2nd hole and he chipped in for his skin on the 6th hole from just off the right side of the green.

There were three other skin winners on the evening as well.

Chris Horne made a great deuce on the long par-three 3rd hole for a skin.

Erron Gomez made some noise by pitching in a shot from 30 yards for an eagle three on the par-five 5th hole for a skin.

And Brian Perkins 2-putted the par-five 8th hole for a birdie skin.

Five skins were out on the night, with each skin paying $78.40.

Pin shot winners were Dan Predovic with the Mulligan’s Pin Shot on the 200-yard third hole worth $68, and Steve Blackburn Jr. grabbed the pin shot on the 185 yard 7th hole worth $51.

Borlin takes the lead in chasing the Thompson Cup for the 2014 season!

Next week, the Greater Cleveland Skins Game travels to Powderhorn Golf Course in Madison with a 4:45p start.
