2014 ADGA PREVIEW: New Events and Courses

The Akron District Golf Association is unequaled in its quest for the betterment of amateur golf in the Akron community and continues to refine its tournament schedule, event formats and payouts to provide its Members with the best competition in the Akron area.

New for 2014:

· The 2014 Golfer of the Year sponsored by Tire Source and Titleist / Foot Joy will be held at The Congress Lake Club;

· a new event, the Budweiser 1-Pro 4-AM 3-Ball will be held in partnership with the Northern Ohio PGA;

· plus increased prize payouts and more Golfer of the Year points opportunities.

The Congress Lake Club will host the 2014 Golfer of the Year Invitational! After three years of being hosted by Firestone Country Club, the ADGA will visit this prestigious Hartville club for its year-ending finale. Members will have the opportunity to qualify in numerous ways for this premier invitational, including ADGA events and other local tournaments that are ADGA member supported.

This year, the ADGA is offering a Players Membership program. The main purpose of this program is to increase tournament payouts to enhance the excitement of competition. The program costs only $50, but includes the opportunity to earn Ungvary Cup and Barnes Cup points in non-ADGA events.

Finally, we’ve modified our Tournament Payouts & Point Allocations for 2014. This year, full field payouts will be established and posted prior to the event, and the Senior Division payouts will be equivalent to Junior Division payouts again in 2014. The number places depends on final field size in each division.

2014 Membership Guidelines

The ADGA Player’s Membership Program is the ideal way to earn your spot in the 2014 Golfer of the Year Invitational at The Congress Lake Club and Canton Brookside Country Club. The cost of ADGA membership is $50.00 and includes the opportunity to earn Ungvary Cup and Barnes Cup points all season long.

In 2014, we would like to have as many members signed or committed possible prior to TurkeyFoot in order to get the membership cards ready for distribution. You may register by e-mail at anytime thru the website at NEOHgolf.com. Different from past years, membership fees will be due prior to the first tournament of the year to receive all points available for the 2014 season. Memberships fees paid after that will only received points available from that date forward.

In addition to earning points in ADGA events, ADGA Members also earn points when they play in select non-ADGA events list in this years schedule.

The newly added Pro-4 AM 3 Ball is open to ADGA members only.

Proceeds from the program go directly toward supporting tournament payouts. Membership is not required to enter ADGA events; however, only ADGA members earn Ungvary Cup points or Barnes Cup points.

ADGA Members:
· Earn points in select non-ADGA events
· Pay reduced entry fees and green fees
· Have priority to preferred starting times
· Have priority on late entries and waiting list entries

Non-Members:
· Don’t earn Ungvary or Barnes Cup Points for non-ADGA sponsored events
· Pay higher tournament entry fees
· Pay normal host club weekend green fees and cart fees
· Can only qualify for the Golfer of the Year Invitational via select club championships, special events or top 24 in ADGA events.
