With only three weeks left in the season, the front-runners are running neck and neck as they head to the finish with the Thompson Cup on the line.
The venue was Legend Lakes Country Club on Thursday, and six of the season’s top players joined in on the skin-winning action.
Joey DiDonato came out firing, draining a 25 foot eagle putt on the 473 yard 1st hole for the first skin of the night. (Later in the round, DiDonato added to his evening’s total by winning a pin shot on the 137-yard par-three 6th hole, worth $24.)
Mark Borlin then birdied the 420 yard 2nd hole for a skin.
Current season-long leader Steve Blackburn Jr. then double dipped on the 173-yard par-three 4th hole by taking the Mulligan’s pin shot worth $32.00 and making the birdie for a skin.
Then it was Mark Foss’s turn, as he chipped in for eagle from 20 yards out on the par-five 5th hole for a skin. He then followed that up with another skin on the 380-yard par-four 7th hole with a three foot birdie putt. Foss’ two skins jumped him into the second position on the 2012 Leaderboard, shown below.
Mike Angie made the last skin of the night on the long par-four 8th hole with a great birdie.
Each skin was worth $30.66.
The Thompson Cup race has tightened up as the Greater Cleveland Skins Game moves to Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Brecksville next Thursday with a 4:15 p.m. start…
