2012 Greater Cleveland Skins Game: Week 19 Results

The conditions were hard and fast at Quail Hollow’s Devlin Course this Thursday evening during Week 19 of the Greater Cleveland Skins Game, and Steve Blackburn Jr. found the course to his liking.

Blackburn Jr. extended his lead by over $250 for the season by grabbing a skin and both pin shots.

Blackburn Jr. hit it tight on both par three holes on the back nine and his birdie on the par three 165-yard 15th hole also paid off with a skin.

Both of his pin shots paid $98 total and his skin paid $80.50.

A total of 4 skins were out on the night.

Pete Skirpstas made his first skin ever at the Greater Cleveland Skins Game by making birdie on the uphill par-four 12th hole.

Mike Angie followed on the par-four 13th hole with a skin of his own after a 12-foot birdie putt.

Dave Sotka closed out the scoring with a birdie on the par-four 17th hole for a skin.

Next week, the Greater Cleveland Skins Game will conduct it second “Double Down” event of the year, where the stakes are raised to $60 per man. The Double Down will be held at Fowlers Mill Golf Course in Chesterland starting at 5pm. Players must have participated in four or more Thursday events during the season in order to be eligible to play at Fowlers Mill next week.

Players also are reminded they must sign up by Friday September 1 for the big money Greater Cleveland Shoot-Out, which will also be held at Fowlers Mill starting at High Noon on Labor Day Monday.

Finally, congratulations to Greater Cleveland Skins Game participant and the 2010 Greater Cleveland Shoot-Out Champion Rob Shustrich for qualifying for this year’s U.S. Mid Amateur Championship, to be held in two weeks in Illinois.
