It was a warm and muggy night at Legends Lake Golf Course in Chardon on Thursday, with 21 players competing.
Joey DiDonato finally pushed his name onto the Greater Cleveland Skins Game Leaderboard in 2012 — and he did it in a big way with a double-dip haul.
And a new leader has emerged at the top of the list, cracking the four-figure mark in winnings after just 13 weeks.
DiDonato cashed in for the first time in 2012 by earning a skin on the par-4 10th hole worth $241.50, and grabbing the pin shot on the 200-yard par-3 17th hole worth $73.50.
Steve Blackburn Jr. won the only other skin on the night with a birdie on the par-4 18th hole, also worth $241.50.
Blackburn’s skin sends him to the top of the Leaderboard, passing Mark Foss and putting him over the $1000 mark for the year in the race for the Thompson Cup.
Nick Anagnost took the pin shot on the 145 yard 15th hole worth $73.50 as well.
The top 5 players after today event earned an exemption into the 2012 Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship, which will be held at Manikiki in August. The top five players on the Leaderboard as of this date are Steve Blackburn Jr., Mark Foss, Steve Blackburn Sr., Mark White, and Mark Borlin. Congratulations!
