The stakes were doubled on Thursday at Aurora Country Club, and veteran Carl “Unk” Quercioli stole the show!
It was Double-Down Night (a doubled $60 entry fee) and Quercioli made the most of it: a birdie skin on the par four 18th hole, and a pin shot to 7 feet on the 17th hole.
“Unk” cashed in with $260.66 for the skin and $110.50 for the pin shot. Quercioli is now the first senior player in the history of the Greater Cleveland Skins Game to crack the $1,000 mark in season-long winnings!
Dave Sotka extended his first place status on the 2011 Leaderboard with a birdie skin of his own, made on the difficult par four 14th hole.
Mark Foss captured the other skin on the night with a birdie on the short par four 11th hole.
Dan Predovic held his own in second place on the leaderboard by grabbing the Mulligans pin shot on the 170-yard par three 13th hole, worth $127.50.
Next week the Greater Cleveland Skins game moves to Madison Country Club with play starting at 5 p.m.
NOTE: Players are reminded that the big cash Greater Cleveland Shoot Out is coming up, on Labor Day Monday! Players must compete in six or more Thursday events to be eligible for the Shoot Out. Only two more Thursdays are left before that event…
