The birdies were flying on the back nine of the Devlin Course at Quail Hollow Country Club on Thursday in Week 17 of the Greater Cleveland Skins Game.
Many of the holes were tied out with birdies, allowing two players to split the skins pot on the night.
Mike Angie knocked it tight on the opening par-4 10th hole; using a pitching wedge, Angie hit it to 3 feet for a birdie skin that held up. The skin win jumps Angie into the fourth position on the 2011 Leaderboard.
Steve Blackburn Sr. had a putt hang on the edge of the cup on the par-4 17th hole, but with a little help from gravity the putt fell and that birdie held for a skin.
Skins were worth $218.50 each.
Carl “Unk” Quercioli solidified his third place standing on the leaderboard by hitting it to 1 foot on the 117 yard par three 11th hole to take a pin shot worth $57.
Dave Sotka, still on top of the 2011 Leaderboard, added to his total by hitting it to 5 feet on the 170-yard par-3 15th hole to grab the Mulligan’s pin shot, worth $76.
Next week is “Double Down Thursday” at Aurora C.C starting at 4 p.m. The stakes will be doubled to $60 per man for the game; please note participants must have played in 4 or more events this year to compete in this special “Double Down” event.
