Eddie Neer wasted no time making birdies, pin shots and skins on Thursday night at the Quail Hollow Devlin Course to extend his lead to over $500 in the race for the 2010 Thompson Cup.
Neer birdied the par-4 10th hole to capture the first skin of the night. He then stuck it close on the following hole, the short par-3 11th, to earn the pin shot there, making his haul for the evening $178.20.
There were a total of five skins on the night worth $101.20 each, and some were earned with sensational shots.
Carl Quercioli (who most of us know as “Unk”) hit a 3-wood second shot onto the par-5 14th hole to 3-feet and knocked it in firm for an eagle to grab the second skin of the night.
Geoff Nicely continued his hot play by hitting the flag on the 178-yard par-3 15th hole for a double dip by taking the pin shot worth $77.00 and making the 8-foot putt for a birdie skin.
Mike Sizler’s first visit to the Greater Cleveland Skins Game paid off, as he birdied the par-4 17th hole for a skin.
And Steve Blackburn Sr. capped off the night with the only birdie on the par-4 18th hole for a skin.
Next week Thursday, August 26th at 5 p.m. is the special “Double Down” event at Aurora Country Club, where the entry fee stakes are doubled to $60. Please note players in next week’s Double Down event must have participated in four or more Thursday events in 2010 to be eligible to play.
