It was “Double Down Thursday” on June 24th at the Greater Cleveland Skins Game played at Chardon Lakes Golf Course.
And a new season-long leader has emerged — one who has cracked the ‘four-figure mark’ just a third of the way into the 2010 season.
Eddie Neer took advantage of the double-sized pot with a double-dip: on the par-3 11th hole, Neer took the pin shot worth $147.00 and birdied the hole from about 8 feet for a skin worth $241.50.
Neer jumps ahead of Tom Evans on the leaderboard through the one-third mark of the season, and is on a record setting pace for the year.
Three other players made skins on the evening as well.
Dave Sotka, playing on his home turf, birdied the first hole of the evening with a chip-in on the par-4 10th. Joe DiDonato found his way onto the 2010 leaderboard with a birdie skin on the par-4 13th hole. And Vince Busa took his turn with a double-dip to find his way onto the leaderboard for the first time this year as well, earning the pin shot and birdie skin on the 200-yard par-3 14th hole.
A total of 21 players competed this past Thursday. Remember, the top 5 players after July 15th will gain an exemption into the Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship, which will be held at Manikiki in August.
Next week Thursday, July 1, the Greater Cleveland Skins Game moves to Tanglewood National in Bainbridge starting at 5 p.m. — with a great green fee rate of just $15! Complete schedule here.
