With some strong winds and the kinds of pins you would expect for a 6-Man scramble at Chippewa, some might say Mother Nature and the golf course won the first ever Chippewa 6-Man Scramble in Doylestown on Saturday. Certainly no team ran away with it or went deep on the scorecard.
Better said, the team of Walt Robertson, Randy Skorman, Ty Kovach, Chris Okeson, Ryan Stefanski and Allen Freeman outlasted the rest of the field to claim the top honor, posting a 16-under par 55 to win by a single shot, good for the $3,000 first prize.
Shooting 15-under par and tying for second were a pair of strong sixes: the team of Dave Oates, Vaughn Snyder, Sam Spino, Nick Lambos, Kevin Larizza, Mike Stefan; and the team of Eric Frischette, Mike Dean, Kyle House, Todd Cravens, Matt Creech and Kenny Cook. Each team earned $600 for the second place tie.
Nabbing the entire skins pot of $1,680 (as a follow-up to the ace and skins pot split at last week’s Eagle Creek 6-Man) was the Tim Ailes’ team, including John Zitkovic, Frank Dudek, Tyler Anderson, Jayson Leeds and Josh Anderson.
Congratulations to Dan Dauk, Brad Stewart, Kevin Larizza and all of the staff at Chippewa for the fine early spring condition of the golf course and a well-run first year event.
P.S.: Don’t forget, the Monday Chippewa Scratch League starts this week, and this week’s Monday $100 Skins Game (every Monday at Chippewa beginning at 11:30 a.m.) should have a huge turn-out because of that start and the great weather that’s expected…
