There has been no official announcement made yet, but the Independence site of Topgolf Cleveland looks to finally have some activity on it.
For months since the initial announcement, nothing has happened on the property at the dead-end of Rockside Woods Blvd North.
But early last week, a trailer, some big earth moving equipment, and a number of piles of gravel and rock finally appeared, as shown above.
According to Morgan Schaaf, Communications Manager for Topgolf, there will be an official announcement of groundbreaking sometime in the future. And once that day comes, it takes “typically 10-12 months” for a Topgolf project to be finished. So look for any 2019 opening to be very late in the year, perhaps even pushed into 2020.
One interesting note, the stated address for the property has changed a bit. All previous articles about the project referenced Rockside Woods Blvd North as the site location. But now, the Topgolf Cleveland website lists the property’s address as 5700 Brecksville Road in Independence.
Does this mean the Topgolf entry driveway will come in from Brecksville Road instead of Rockside Woods Blvd North? Stay tuned…
Allen; the article in Crain’s last month (https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/topgolf-scores-land-buy) indicated that City of Independence would extend Rockside Woods North around to Brecksville Rd. They (Independence officials) say they are expecting the new area to have additional dining/entertainment sites, representing “an economic impact of about $265 million”.
Perhaps that Brecksville Road address is their temporary local office until the facility is built, or represents the connections for Rockside Woods North.
