2014 Q-SCHOOL FINALS: ROUND 5 RECAP
The penultimate round of the 2013 Web.com qualifying tournament brought forth some mixed results for our players from NE Ohio.
Ryan Armour continued his consistent play in carding a 5 birdie 3 bogey round of 70 (-2) on the Stadium Course. That leaves him in solid position at -12 (t 21st place) heading into the final round today.
Justin Lower, on the other hand, was not be able to get anything going on the Stadium Course, posting a round of 76 (+4).
It appears that Justin ran into some trouble at the usually benign 14th hole in making a double bogey. Ryan and Justin will both be over on the Nicklaus Tournament course today for the final round.
Jake Scott, battling inner demons from a tough finish in Round 4, struggled in Round 5. He failed to convert 6 birdie putts within 15 feet on the first 10 holes. His putting lacked its usual confidence, resulting in many missed opportunities.
By the time he finally managed to make birdies at 11 and 13, he was running out of holes to play. His round ended with a loose tee shot into a pond at the 18th, leading to a double bogey 6, and yet another round of level par 72.
Jake sits on -3 heading into the final round. We will need a little magic in the desert at the Stadium Course to jump some 53 spots. He currently is tied with Justin Lower in 98th place.
