2014 Q-SCHOOL FINALS: ROUND 3 RECAP
Round three of the Web.com Tour qualifying tournament brought some windy conditions to the desert.
Ryan Armour continued his fine play on the Stadium course shooting a bogey free 68 with four birdies. In his last 36 holes on the Stadium course, he has gone bogey-free while making seven birdies — which is a monumental feet. He is in solid position in a tie for 9th at -11.
Justin Lower, playing on the Nicklaus Tournament Course, made 4 birdies and a lone bogey in route to a 69 (-3). Justin moved up 28 spots and is in a tie for 90th place at -1 for the championship.
Jake Scott made 3 birdies and closed with a bogey at the last to shoot 70 (-2). He picked up 16 spots and is in a tie for 61st at 3-under par.
Ryan will be looking for some separation over at the Nicklaus Tournament Course. Meanwhile, Jake and Justin head over to the Stadium Course today where scores were quite volatile. Second round leader Chris Epperson shot a 76 (+4), yet amateur phenom Michael Kim posted a 66.
There is a ton of danger lurking around the Stadium Course and plenty of sucker hole locations. They are tempting the players to take dead aim instead of making a more conservative play toward the center of the green.
Jake and I reviewed some course strategy last night and now that he has dialed in his iron game we should be able to make a bit of a move today if some putts finally drop.
Keep in mind that this is a very unusual six round tournament. Players will have to complete 108 holes, so we are only at the halfway point. All 3 of the NEOH boys are in good position with Ryan Armour being in the drivers seat. Jake and Justin need some solid play over the last three days to make up some ground.
