American Jake Scott resisted a late push by Ontario’s Michael Gligic to win the Quebec Open Canam Open at St. George’s Golf Club.

The two players tied for the 72nd and last hole of the regular rounds when Gligic recorded an eagle after placing his second shot at four feet from the cup, then stalled his roll. Jake Scott had a lead of one stroke on the green and he managed a birdie.

It was then necessary to proceed to the overtime and both players returned to the start of the 18th hole.

Gligic went from a very moderate start while Scott put his ball in the center of the driveway. The American’s second shot fell two feet before the green and Gligic shot a great shot from the long grass but the ball stopped about forty feet farther than the pennant. Everyone’s third shot was about four feet from the cup, down for Gligic and up for Scott.

“I was happy that my roll was two inches farther than his,” commented the winner. It was my job to perform first and if I managed the birdie, it put a lot of pressure on me. ”

Jake Scott sent the ball into the hole and Michael Gligic saw his roll around the cup, thus achieving the victory of the American.

“It was a long and stressful day,” added the new champion. I had an exceptional start and even if I led by four shots passing our tenth hole, I could not claim victory right away. ”

Michael Gligic is not last and last year, he participated in nine tournaments of the Web.com circuit, the antechamber of the PGA Tour.

“Mike opened the machine on the back nine,” Scott continued, and he was dangerously close to me. Then my right iron fell cold at the same time. I would say that the turning point was at our 17th hole while I managed the birdie while Michael was going a normal way. ”

The $ 18,000 bursary is the largest cash crop in Jake Scott’s career,

“I’m really happy with my week. In general, except for a few holes, I have never done so well on greens. Everything was so well organized and the ground was in perfect condition. The fans and volunteers in Saint-Georges were superb. I loved the city. ”

After Victoriaville and Saint-Georges, Jake Scott will be present once again in Quebec as he qualified for the MacKenzie Investments Open at the Elmridge Golf Club on Île Bizard from September 3rd to 9th for 2018 edition of this tournament MacKenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada.
