Host pro Jacob Scott played solid tee-to-green while amateur partner Derek “D2” Duda provided some critical lag putting to earn themselves a one shot victory in the inaugural Pine Hills Extreme 2-Man Scramble Sunday.
With the hole locations set on severe slopes and tucked into tiny corners, the day was as much about making pars as converting birdies. Scott and Duda overcame a double-bogey seven on the par-5 fifth hole by making birdies on holes 7-8-9 followed by an eagle on the par-5 10th. They birdied the 13th and then parred out from there to grab the first place prize of $1200, winning by a single shot over the teams of Bob Sylvester & Chris Zidek and Mike Armour & Dave Trier.
FIELD SHOT: The team of Denny Krysh and Mike Watkins holed out from the fairway on the first hole for eagle to earn one of four skins made on the day.
