While two area courses have recently closed, Salem Hills Golf and Country Club near Warren has been given a new life.
Salem Hills will reopen under a multi-year lease agreement between the new property owner, Ray Bricker, and PGA golf professional Ben Broderick (pictured here).
Broderick worked at the course from March 1999 until December 2014, when the facility closed due to the previous owner’s retirement.
The fate of the course was in doubt after a March 2 auction, in which Salem Hills Golf and Country Club was purchased for $880,000 by Bricker. He owns the farmland next to the course.
Broderick said after contacting Bricker, an agreement was reached to keep the course open.
