Tuesday, July 16th, was the final day of the 48th Ohio Girls Junior Championship at Marion Country Club. The final round was exciting in every division, with plenty of lead changes throughout the day. When the round ended, one performance stood out: Gracyn Vidovic.
Vidovic shot the day’s low round by a large margin and put her name into the history books with what is believed to be the lowest round in tournament history. Her round started slow as she made a birdie on hole one and followed it up with a bogey on hole 3. Where Gracyn did her damage was holes 7 through 11. Vidovic rattled off four birdies and one eagle in that span, solidifying her spot at sole lead. Vidovic shot seven straight pars to finish her round and claim her spot as champion with a 66 (-6) score.
In the 14-15 division, Jodie Han was crowned champion. Han had two solid rounds of golf that landed her in first place in her division and second overall. On Monday, Han shot a 71 comprised of four birdies and three bogeys. On Tuesday, Jodie kept the ups and downs to a minimum, shooting another 71 with three birdies and two bogeys.
In the 13 & Under division, Kaylee Gong finished at the top. It took Gong a bit to settle in on the course on day one, as she finished her first nine at +7. On the back, Gong could find her stride as she played par golf on seven of the holes on the back, adding two bogeys to the card. Kaylee continued where she left off to begin day two, shooting a 75 on her 18 holes, which was good enough for her to earn her place at the top of the division and T25 overall.
