It was a record-setting scramble performance by Steve Blackburn and Howard Clendenin on Sunday at Paradise Lake. The pair shot an incredible 16-under par, winning by a whopping four shots over Mike Simpson and Aaron Crewse — who shot what would normally be a winning -12.
Blackburn and Clendenin started out with three straight birdies and never looked back, adding in three more birdies while throwing in eagle-2 on the short par-4 8th hole to finish 8-under par on the front side. They added only three more birdies on the back nine, but dropped in two more eagles on holes 12 and 16 to finish the day with a record low score.
In addition to taking home the first place prize, Blackburn and Clendenin also nabbed the entire skins pot with two of their eagles!
The next Paradise Lake 2-Man event is the Superman on Oct 18th. The format is slightly different in that both players get two attempts at each shot. It’s usually a big field for this event, so sign up early…
