Girls 19 & U
Elena Varga (Hudson) fired an impressive 35-36–71 (-3) at Pine Ridge to win the Girls 19 & Under division. Elena made bogey on her first and last holes, but in the middle it was lights-out golf! She had 7 birdies and an eagle to go 9 under on those holes. Elena will be a sophomore at Hudson this fall. Anuja Patel (Pepper Pike) finished 2nd with 40-38–78 (+4). Anuja finished strong playing her last 7 holes in one under par.
Boys 16-19
Michael Jaycic (Chesterland) shot 40-34–74 (+2) to capture the Boys 16-19 division title. Michael was 5 over through 10 holes, then played the last 8 holes in two under. Michael’s only two birdies came back-to-back on #15 and #16. Ethan Olszowy (Avon) had a solid round of 38-38–76 (+5) to take 2nd place. Megh Upadhyay (Reminderville) had a rough start with an 8 on the par 4 first and his troubles continued through #5, but then he found the groove and played one over for the next 13 holes. He had 3 birdies en route to his career low score of 42-38–80.
Boys 15 & Under
Austin Funk (Medina) and Lincoln Miller (Concord) identical nines 39-37–76 to tie for first in the Boys 15 & Under division. But they were far from identical on their final hole, Austin had his only birdie of the round and Lincoln had a double bogey 6. Lincoln had 3 birdies en route to his career low round. Wren Spires (Medina) had 43-35–78 to finish 3rd. He was off his game on the front nine, but played a strong back nine of even par.
WRJS #3 – WoodRidge
Wren Spires and Michael Jaycic tied in the overall Boys division for the 2 day World Ranking Junior Series (WRJS) event. Wren had 74-78–152 and Michael had 78-74–152. All players scores in the WRJS event will be posted to the Junior Golf Scorecard’s World Rankings (the #1 college golf recruiting ranking).
